01 December 2024High Sheriff to open new almshouses
This week Mr John Chatfeild-Roberts, the High Sheriff of Leicestershire, who is also a trustee of the Charities will open the range of four new almshouses, after a five-year building project. Three of them are already occupied, but we have a vacant ground floor flat for a married couple, and a first floor flat for a single person. If you know any persons aged 50 or over, resident or formerly resident in Melton Mowbray or Burton Lazars, who are in need, please encourage them to apply.
The trustees have entered the project for the Patron's Award from the Almshouse Association. The Patron is His Majesty King Charles III. In the unlikely event that we win, we hope he will one day visit!
